Arty came to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue at the Exotic Pet Surrender Event in Platteville on 10/4/25. His previous owner, who originally got him from Aquatica in Davenport, could no longer care for him — so now he’s looking for a fresh start and a forever home.

✨ Approximately 13 years old
✨ Absolutely LOVES spring greens
✨ Friendly, curious, and full of personality
 
Greek Tortoise Care Snapshot
🐢 Enclosure: Ideal indoor footprint is 8 ft x 4 ft, or an outdoor pen whenever weather allows
🌞 Lighting: Strong UVB needed (T5 HO 5–6% across at least half the enclosure)
🔥 Temperatures: Basking 95–100°F • Cool side 70–80°F
💧 Humidity: Moderate, with access to a humid hide
🌱 Substrate: Deep, diggable mix of soil and sand
🏞️ Décor: Logs, rocks, edible plants, and multiple hiding spots
🍽️ Diet: Daily greens and weeds — dandelion, spring mix, hibiscus, plantain, etc. (very low fruit)
