Beetlejuice came to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on September 5, 2025, after their previous owner was facing housing issues. At just about a foot long, this striking little snake is still young but already thriving—eating frozen/thawed pinkie mice like a champ! 🐭✨
 
🔍 Kingsnake Quick Care Info (from ReptiFiles):
📏 Adult Size: 3–6 feet (depending on subspecies)
📅 Lifespan: 15–20+ years
💤 Temperament: Curious, confident, and usually calm with consistent handling
🏠 Enclosure Size: Minimum 40 gallons for juveniles; 4’L x 2’W x 2’H (120 gallons) recommended for adults
🌡️ Temps:
– Basking spot: 88–92°F
– Cool side: 75–80°F
💧 Humidity: 40–60%
💡 Lighting: Not required but low-level UVB (Arcadia Forest 6% or Zoo Med Reptisun 5.0 T5 HO) is beneficial
🛏️ Substrate: Aspen, coconut husk, or a soil/sand mix for burrowing
🌿 Décor: Multiple hides, cork bark, and climbing branches—they love to explore!
🍽️ Diet: Carnivore
– Frozen/thawed rodents of appropriate size (about 1.5x the snake’s body width)
– Feed hatchlings every 5–7 days; adults every 10–14 days
⚠️ Never house Kingsnakes together—they can be cannibalistic!
💧 Water: Always provide a clean bowl large enough for soaking
