Duke the Geoffrey’s Sideneck Turtle 🐢💚

Duke came to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on 7/22/26 because their owner, who originally got them online, no longer had enough time to care for them.

Duke is about 3 years old and has now been with us for over two months. They are still looking for a home that is prepared for the long-term commitment that comes with keeping an aquatic turtle.

Geoffrey’s Sideneck Turtles need a spacious aquatic setup with clean, well-filtered water, a dry basking area, appropriate heat, and UVB lighting. Providing enough room to swim, explore, and bask is an important part of keeping aquatic turtles healthy.

Like other sideneck turtles, Duke pulls their head sideways beneath the edge of the shell rather than straight back—one of the features that makes these turtles so interesting!

At just 3 years old, Duke has plenty of life ahead and deserves a home ready for many years together. 🐢
