🦎💛 Meet Leo the Leopard Gecko! 💛🦎
 
Leo came to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on August 23, 2024, during our Exotic Pet Surrender Event in Menasha after their previous owner could no longer care for them. At about 5 years old, Leo is a healthy adult gecko who loves nothing more than hunting down crickets and worms. 🪱🐛

📏 Adult Size: 7–10 inches
📅 Lifespan: 15–20+ years
💤 Temperament: Calm, hardy, and beginner-friendly
🏠 Enclosure Size: At least 36”L x 18”W x 18”H
🌡️ Temps:
– Basking surface: 94–97°F
– Warm hide: 90–92°F
– Cool side: 70–77°F
💧 Humidity: 30–40% (70–80% in a humid hide for shedding)
💡 Lighting: Low-level UVB (Arcadia ShadeDweller or Zoo Med Reptisun 5.0 T5) is recommended
🛏️ Substrate: Naturalistic soil/sand blend, tile, or paper towel (avoid loose dry sand)
🌿 Décor: At least two hides (warm & cool), plus climbing rocks and enrichment décor
🍽️ Diet: Insectivore
– Staples: Crickets, dubia roaches, mealworms, BSFL
– Treats: Hornworms, waxworms (sparingly)
– Dust feeders with calcium + multivitamins
 
At 5 years old, Leo still has many years of life ahead and would make a great companion for someone who enjoys a hardy, interactive reptile. With his love of hunting insects, he’s sure to bring joy to his next keeper! 🌟
