Mocha and Latte were surrendered to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on August 15, 2025, after their previous owner took them in from a friend but could no longer provide care. These playful little weasels have been through a lot, but thanks to our veterinary team, they’re now healthy and ready for adoption!
 
Both were treated for ear mites, and Mocha (female) also recovered from an infection. While Mocha may be prone to health issues in the future, she’s cleared for adoption—so to help ensure they find the right home, there is no adoption fee for Mocha. Latte (male) does have a standard adoption fee, and the two must be adopted together. 💚
 
🔍 Ferret Quick Care Info:
📏 Size: 1.5–4 lbs, ~18–24 inches long
📅 Lifespan: 6–10 years
💤 Personality: Playful, mischievous, affectionate—love interaction and exploration
🏠 Housing:
– Large multi-level ferret cage or free-roam in a ferret-proofed room/area
– Soft bedding, hammocks, tunnels, and toys for enrichment
– At least 4–6 hours out-of-cage playtime daily
🌡️ Environment: 60–80°F, avoid direct sunlight and overheating
🍽️ Diet: Obligate carnivores
– High-protein, high-fat ferret kibble (or premium kitten food as backup)
– Occasional treats: cooked egg, freeze-dried meat
– Fresh water always available
🧸 Care Tips:
– Ferrets need regular nail trims and ear cleaning
– Vaccinations (rabies, distemper) recommended
– Highly social—they thrive in pairs or groups (like Mocha & Latte!)
