🐍✨ Meet Nagini the Ball Python! ✨🐍
 
Nagini joined J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on June 21, 2025, during our Exotic Pet Surrender Event in Beloit after their owner moved out and left them with a roommate. Now, at about 2 feet long and happily eating frozen/thawed small rats, Nagini is ready to slither into a new forever home. 🖤💛
 
🔍 Ball Python Quick Care Info (from ReptiFiles):
📏 Adult Size: 3–5 feet
📅 Lifespan: 30+ years with proper care
💤 Temperament: Shy, gentle, and typically slow-moving
🏠 Enclosure Size: Minimum 4’L x 2’W x 2’H (120 gallons)
🌡️ Temps:
– Basking surface: 95–104°F
– Warm hide: 86–90°F
– Cool hide: 72–80°F
💧 Humidity: 45–75% (highest in the cool hide)
💡 Lighting: Not required but UVB is highly recommended (Arcadia Forest 6% or Zoo Med Reptisun 5.0 T5 HO, mounted correctly)
🛏️ Substrate: Moisture-retentive soil mix (like Reptisoil or Eco Earth) topped with leaf litter; optional sphagnum moss for humidity boosts
🌿 Décor: At least 2 hides, climbing branches, cork bark, and foliage—ball pythons do enjoy climbing and exploring!
🍽️ Diet:
– Frozen/thawed small rats
– Feed every 14–21 days at this size
– Prey size: No larger than 1.5x the thickest part of their body
💧 Water: Large, clean water bowl—big enough for soaking if desired
