This beautiful Eartheater Cichlid (Geophagus sp.) came to JRAAR looking for a new home! Known for their fascinating behavior of sifting through substrate to find food—hence the name “eartheater”—these peaceful and intelligent cichlids are a great choice for larger community aquariums.

Peaceful and social (best kept in groups)
Loves sand substrate for foraging
Grows to around 6–8 inches
Ideal tank size: 55 gallons or more
🌿 They do best in warm, clean, well-oxygenated water with soft substrate and plenty of hiding spaces
