Panther Crab
Panther Crab (Parathelphusa pantherina)
Panther Crabs come from Lake Matano in Sulawesi and are still fairly new to the aquarium hobby in the U.S. They are bright orange with black spots, which is how they got their name.
đŚ Habitat:
⢠Fully aquatic to semi-aquatic
⢠A small land or resting area is helpful but not required
đ Tankmates:
Panther Crabs can live with fast, healthy fish like tetras, guppies, mollies, bettas, and catfish. They may go after slow or sick fish, especially if not fed well.
đ˝ď¸ Diet:
⢠Sinking shrimp pellets
⢠Bloodworms
⢠Algae wafers
⢠Sinking pellets
⢠Dead plant material, leaves, and algae
Iodine supplements help keep their shells healthy.
đ Tank Setup:
⢠Clean, stable water is very important
⢠Regular water changes and beneficial bacteria
⢠Plenty of hiding spots (more hides than crabs)
⢠Rocks or wood to crawl under
đŚ Social Needs:
Panther Crabs can live alone, but do best in small colonies. Up to 5 crabs can live in a 10-gallon tank with proper care.

Never release pets into the wild. Invasive species cause serious harm.
