This stunning Pied Veiled Chameleon came to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on September 19th from a local breeder who had too many. Hatched on March 17, 2025, these little climbers were raised together but will need to be adopted separately to ensure healthy, stress-free lives.

📏 Adult Size: Up to 22 inches
📅 Lifespan: 6–8 years (females often shorter-lived)
🌿 Temperament: Solitary and shy—best housed alone🏠 Enclosure: Minimum 24”L x 24”W x 48”H screened terrarium. Bigger is always better! Fill it with vines, branches, and live plants for climbing and security.
💡 Lighting:
UVB: Arcadia T5 HO 6% or Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 placed over the top mesh (approx. 6” above basking branch).
Daylight: Add a bright 6500K LED or fluorescent light for mental stimulation and plant growth.
Photoperiod: 12 hours of light daily.
🔥 Heating:
Basking area: 85°F (29°C)
Ambient temperature: 72–78°F (22–25°C)
Nighttime: 55–65°F (13–18°C)
Use a pair of 50W reptile bulbs for gentle morning warmth.
💧 Humidity:
Daytime: 40–50%
Nighttime: 80–100%
Mist 2–3 times daily or use an automatic misting system. A cool mist humidifier overnight helps maintain proper levels.
🍽️ Diet:
Veiled chameleons are insectivores. Offer a rotating menu of crickets, dubia roaches, black soldier fly larvae, silkworms, and hornworms. Juveniles eat daily; adults eat every other day (4–5 insects).
Dust feeders with calcium (no D3) at every feeding and a multivitamin with D3 twice a month.
🌱 Hydration: They drink from droplets—use a dripper or frequent misting to ensure access to water.
