Ziggy came to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on 4/7/26 from a distributor because they were not considered "perfect enough" for a pet store. While some may have overlooked Ziggy, we see a wonderful little bird who deserves a loving home and a second chance.
Canaries are known for their bright colors, sweet songs, and active personalities. They spend their days hopping from perch to perch, exploring their surroundings, and filling the room with cheerful sounds.

• Adult size: About 5 inches
• Lifespan: 8–12 years
• Large cage with room to fly
• Diet: Quality canary seed, pellets, and fresh greens
• Fresh water daily
• Enjoy a variety of perches and enrichment items
Canaries are usually best enjoyed as observation pets. They may not want to be handled, but they more than make up for it with their beauty, activity, and singing.
Ziggy may not have met a pet store's idea of perfection, but we know that every animal deserves a chance to be loved. Sometimes the pets that get overlooked make the very best companions. 💚
